Special Features
1. Breadth and Depth : This programme includes liberal courses, covering a wide scope of knowledge. On top of foundation courses, students need to study classical great works in order to extend their knowledge in more depth and to grasp a profusion of professional expertise.
2. Theory and Creative Practice : The programme involves theoretical studies as well as appreciation and creative writing of verse, poetry and prose. In addition to studies of verse, poetry, ancient prose and Pianwen, students are required to work on regular assignments on which continuous assessment is based, recognizing the importance of both theory and creative practice.
3. Acquaintance with Knowledge of the Past and the Present : While emphasis is placed on traditional academic studies, modern and contemporary literature is also explored.
4.. Two Written Languages; Three Spoken Languages: Although the main focus of the programme is Chinese Language, English Language is also taught. Moreover, the programme emphasizes both Putonghua and Cantonese pronunciations.
 

Aims and Objectives
  This programme focuses on studies of Chinese Literature, while providing guidance in thinking and training in language skills, as well as developing the capability of self-learning. On completion of the programme, students will have a deeper understanding of Chinese Classical and Modern Literature, a more solid grounding in Chinese Language, and the ability to apply what they have learned to teaching of Chinese, editorial and copywriting work in public and private organizations, and graduate studies.
   
   
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants* must:
1. have passed the HKCEE with at least six E grade subjects or above, including Chinese and
English; and
have passed Chinese Language and Culture and Use of English in the Hong Kong Advanced Supplementary Level ('AS' Level) Examination, plus passing at least one Advanced Level ('A' Level) subject in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination in one sitting or equivalent;
2. Associate Degree Holders; or
3. have attained equivalent education standards from overseas countries.
* All candidates for admission will be interviewed as part of the selection process.
