On the basis of past achievements in this respect, the College signed in 1986 an agreement of academic cooperation with Peking University concerning exchange of professors and post-graduates, and in 1987 a joint programme of Bachelor of Laws approved by the State Education Commission of the PRC was launched. This programme is identical to the internal programme at the University in substance. Thirteencohorts of graduates have been awarded the degree in Beijing.

In May 1991, the College established 4 part-time Master's Degree programmes with Peking University namely, Chinese Classic Literature, Economy of China, International Law and Civil Law. Moreover, a Master's Degree of Journalism programme has been offered at Shue Yan College by Renmin University of China since 1993. All these programmes were also approved by the State Education Commission of China.

A Chinese Lawyers' Training Programme was jointly offered on our campus with the Ministry of Justice, PRC and Renmin University of China in 1994. This is the first time since the founding of PRC that permission was given to residents of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau who have successfully completed this Training Programme to sit for the Chinese Lawyers' Qualification Examination. Therefore this programme has aroused great enthusiasm.

Besides, a new Master's Degree programme in Sociology has been offered jointly with the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since September 1994.

The College will continue to develop these academic cooperations in order to promote cultural exchange and maintain its high academic standard.

The LL.B. programme and the 2 master's degree programmes in Law jointly offered by our College and Peking University have been approved by the Law Society of Hong Kong for purposes of meeting the Society's Continuing Professional Development Scheme requirements since March 1998.
