Course Aims

This is an introduction to various aspects of the human nature through studying major issues commonly taught in psychology texts. Topics include introducing theoretical orientations and methods in psychology , basic cognitive processes (such as sensation and perception, conditioning, memory and forgetting), motivation, emotion, intelligence, stress and social behavior.

 

Course Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to:

1. understand what psychology is about -- its branches, methods, and theoretical
    foundations;

2. develop interest in various aspects of human behaviour and mental processes;

3. critically appraise forces that can affect behaviour at individual, group, and
    societal levels.
