Course Aims

Sexuality is an essential part of human behaviour that affects the global functioning of a person including the persons gender role and identity, self-concept, social relationships, and satisfaction of life. Human sexuality is an introductory course covering a wide range of social scientific perspectives on sexuality and critically examining some of the controversial issues through the study of the most up-to-date research. It also helps counseling students to discuss the matter in a perspective, comfortable and confident way when they journey into the suffering of their clients.

 

Course Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Understand sexuality from psychological, physiological and social perspectives;

2. Organize such knowledge in a social scientific fashion;

3. Apply the knowledge to their own personal development;

4. Increase their skills and sensitivity in helping or relating to others;
