This course introduces you to the major subfields of linguistics, including Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, and Semantics. By focusing attention on practical examples and exercises, it aims to equip you with some tools and techniques to conduct linguistic analysis; and by providing a solid grounding in basic concepts and essential terminology, it also aims to prepare you for more advanced linguistics courses later in the program.
