The Department aims at preparing well-trained and well-qualified graduates for serving newspapers and mass media organizations in Hong Kong as well as in Southeast Asia. To this end, in addition to the required language proficiency, students are provided with the opportunity to understand the process and impact of communication in a variety of social contexts, and helped to acquire a broad-based knowledge in Humanities and Social Sciences such as History, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Economics and Law in order to cultivate student's analytical ability with an open mind and be able to have a fair, impartial and independent view-point.
