JOUR 323 Online Journalism and Mass Communication (1 Term; 3 Credits) This course is an overview of computer-mediated communication theories. The characteristics of the Internet and its effects on the dynamics of human communication and society will be explored. The objectives are to equip students with the skills necessary to effectively harness new media for positive cultural influence, to develop a critical understanding of online journalism, and to critique the structure and dynamics of contemporary online journalism and mass media in Hong Kong. |
