JOUR 370 Mass Communication Law

(1 Term; 3 Credits)

This course is designed to acquaint students with aspects of the law that affect mass communication, as well as to instill in them a sense of alertness in covering issues. Areas to be covered include an introduction to the Hong Kong legal system, sources of Hong Kong law, the judicial system of Hong Kong, general principles of law of contract, torts, defamation and copy-right. Specific cases of libel, slander, contempt of court and privacy will be used for case analysis.
