JOUR 410 Journalism Ethics
(1 Term; 3 Credits)
The content of the course includes:
1) The basic concept and principles of journalism ethics and morality commonly practised on the international level;
2) The essential self-disciplinary standards followed by Hong Kong and international press;
3) Controversies concerning journalism ethics.
After completion of the course, students shall be able to identify the developing trend of ethical and self-disciplinary policies of world journalism, recognise the importance of professional ethics and self-discipline in the industry, and grasp the standards of journalistic ethics, so that they can excel in their positions by closely monitoring themselves and disciplining other colleagues in their future careers in journalism. |
