JOUR 431 Script Writing

(1 Term; 3 Credits)

This is a practical course on the basic elements of script writing designed for journalism students. Through introducing drama history, theory-lecturing, drama appreciation and writing short scenes and a script project, students will have a better understanding on how a script is constructed; how creative ideas will be developed and shared among students, and how critical faculty will be upgraded. By reading famous scripts, the students will be able to analyze the drama works. At the end of the course, the students will be expected to demonstrate communication skills in presenting stories verbally, have the ability in utilizing various elements and methods of script writing to produce a written script project, and master the appreciation and critical evaluation of scripts.
