The University has been recognized by the Hong Kong Government as an approved
4 year system tertiary institution. A holder of Diploma awarded by the University
may take up appointment in the Civil Service and enter the pay scales as laid down
by the Civil Service Bureau, Hong Kong Government Secretariat.

On 16 May, 2001 an official announcement was made that the
University had been approved by the Chief Executive in Council to
offer degree programmes.
