Features
- The 4-year full-time honours degree programme gives students a first qualification in social work. A generalist model is adopted to equip students with theories, knowledge and skills in social work.
- Students are offered 3 supervised fieldwork placements, which is unique in current social work training in the territory. As pre-placement exposure, Year 2 students are required to undertake 100-hours of voluntary service in social service organizations.
- Courses on social work research methods, programme evaluation and quality management are offered to enable students to develop competency in research and programme evaluation.
- In the final year, students are required to complete an Honours Project to assimilate what they have learnt for the development of their professional niche.
Aims and Objectives
The programme aims to help students to:
- understand the context of social work practice;
- equip with effective theories, methods and skills to work with various target groups
- develop their ability to actualise the essence of theories and practice
- build up their analytical thinking and critical awareness through their learning in social work courses
- become a generalist social worker with a professional niche.
