HKSYU Announcement

In accordance with the Constitution and the Basic Law, the National People’s Congress is introducing laws and enforcement mechanisms for Hong Kong to safeguard national security. In this process, we hope that what Hong Kong people have always treasured, namely, the rule of law, freedoms of speech, publication, assembly and association, academic freedom, as well as other related legal rights, will be clearly laid out and fully protected. We also hope that the HKSAR government can accurately reflect the different views and concerns of Hong Kong people as the laws are written.

The rule of law is a core value of Hong Kong and the cornerstone of the implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems’. National security is tied to the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and its successful implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems’.

It is our hope that Hong Kong can emerge from discord and turmoil as soon as possible and start afresh.
