ENG 490 Honours Project
1 Term; 3 Credits
The project enables students to pursue independent research on a selected topic under
the guidance of an advisor. It gives students who evidence initiative, originality, intellectual
maturity and a desire to commit themselves to genuine scholarship an opportunity to
synthesize information they have learned in courses with their independent investigation and
thought on a topic of their choice.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSES (SERVICE COURSES)
ENG 111 English Usage I
1 Term; 3 Credits
This course is designed to enhance students’ English proficiency in the area of reading,
writing, listening and speaking. It is also the aim of the course to provide structured
opportunities for students to practise different English skills through individual and group work.

This course is designed to enhance students’ English proficiency in the area of reading,

ENG 211 English Writing I

The main objective of this course is to help students write effectively by enhancing their
reading and critical thinking skills. The course will focus on the process of writing, self-
assessment and peer review to aid students to become competent writers in their academic
endeavours.
