Asia and Hong Kong, with aims to systematically enhance students’ understanding of emerging
social issues from both the micro and macro sociological perspectives. Key topics include
poverty, gender inequality, drug abuse, prostitution, crime, marriage and fertility, and ageing
will be discussed. By the end of this course, student will be able to think critically about social
problems and to gain a better understanding of the complex interplay between the self and
society.
