GEC 113 Badminton and Table Tennis
1 Term; 3 Credits
Badminton and table tennis are popular sports, and there are many similarities and
differences between them. By learning the theoretical knowledge and technical application of
these two sports, students can have a better understanding of the process of change in the
sports. Students’ sports skills and analytical skills are improved after completing the course,
especially through watching a badminton game and doing statistical analysis of the data.

GEC 116 True Crime in Contemporary Culture
1 Term; 3 Credits
The popularity of true crime podcasts, documentaries and web sleuths has increased
dramatically over the past decade. The cultural products related to true crime and to specific
cases have diversified through the web and social media, leading to real-world changes.
Students learn to critically assess the portrayal of types of crime and changes within the
criminal justice system. Social media and the web are pathways for individuals to become
involved in their communities, particularly around true crime. Students also assess the efficacy
of this community involvement.
GEC 206 Experiential Learning for Global Citizenship
1 Term; 3 Credits
Through the provision of summer schools in collaboration with overseas universities, this
course integrates class teaching with experiential learning to enhance our students’ global
outlook with appropriate theoretical training and direct immersion into foreign settings.
The specific course aims are to: 1) develop an understanding of rights and
responsibilities, global issues and connections between global, national and local systems and
processes; 2) equip students with skills for living in an increasingly diverse world through
recognizing and appreciating difference and multiple identities; 3) develop students’
transnational networking with people from different regions/countries; and 4) provide an
overseas experience to become a self-reliant and critical global explorer.
GEC 207 Be a Smart Financial Investor: Understanding Psychological Biases
1 Term; 3 Credits
