About the Program

The University of Louisiana at Monroe has offered this MBA program at Hong Kong Shue Yan University since 1979. The program is fully accredited by one of the most prestigious international accrediting agencies, the AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Non-local Courses Registry of the Education Bureau of HKSAR has also entered it into the register of exempted courses since 1998 (Reference Number: 460007). This program brings the new technology and up-to-date American management style to the business community and makes a solid contribution to the cultural exchange of the East and West. It is well received by the people of Hong Kong who realize the advantage of a quality MBA program. While working in Hong Kong, the MBA candidate can receive exactly the same American degree as the student who incurs the expense of living in the United States for two years without a job.

The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) subsidizes adults with learning aspirations to pursue continuing education and training courses. Eligible applicants will be reimbursed 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum sum of HK$10,000, on successful completion of an approved course.

Part of the MBA Program: "Financial Analysis & Accounting Analysis for Decision Making" (Course code: 23Z02277-1) has been included in the list of reimbursable courses for CEF purposes. Please visit www.sfaa.gov.hk/cef for details.

Admission Requirements (last revised on 1 January, 2006)

Applicants should be degree holders or graduates of Shue Yan University. Those with a background equivalent to Shue Yan's four-year undergraduate program will be considered to have equivalent qualifications of a Bachelor's degree. The prospective student should earn a score of 1000 points or more based on the following formula:

200 × undergraduate GPA + GMAT score ³ 1000

When calculating your overall undergraduate GPA for the purpose of determining your required GMAT score, the plus or minus parts of your grades will not be counted. For example, a B+ or a B- on your transcript will be treated as a B grade. Depending on the relative numbers of plus and minus grades, your GPA calculated for this purpose may be different from your actual GPA. The minimum acceptable GMAT score is 450. Applicants who have not taken the test or achieved this score will be considered on provisional status. With prerequisites for the courses concerned, a student in provisional status may take up to 4 courses before meeting the GMAT requirement if those courses are taken in the same summer. In other words, if a student begins the program in a summer semester, he or she may choose to take 3 or 4 courses during that summer before satisfying the GMAT requirement, otherwise the maximum number of courses that can be taken without submission of the acceptable GMAT score is 2.
