This Area puts strong emphasis on:
i) communicating effectively through different modalities;
ii) showing good awareness and understanding of cultural similarities and differences
during communication;
iii) interacting positively with people coming from different ethnic, racial, and cultural
backgrounds; and
iv) understanding cultures through different forms.
After studying in this area, students should be able to:
a) demonstrate effective intercultural communication skills;
b) recognize the diversity of different cultures, values and belief; and
c) apply theories and methods to explain and analyse related issues.
Area C: Global Citizenship
The objectives of this Area are:
1) fostering students’ sense of responsibility to themselves and other beings, to the society,
and to the global world; and
2) allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of people and issues through making
connects at personal, societal, historical, and environmental levels.
This Area puts strong emphasis on:
i) maintaining an individual’s well-being, both physically and mentally, through active
reflections on their actions and behaviour;
ii) raising an individual’s awareness of local and global issues, preparing them to contribute
to a sustainable society that celebrates equality, respect, and harmony; and
iii) understanding their roles and responsibilities in preserving the natural habitat.
After studying in this area, students should be able to:
a) critically review personal and social practices with a broadened perspective;
b) make informed decisions about moral issues and show good reasoning; and
c) apply methods and theories studied to make positive impact on society.
Area D: Digital Trends and Applications
The objectives of this Area are:
1) demonstrating how the rapid development of information and communication technology
(ICT) in the 21st century has altered the landscape of a literate environment;
2) describing the unprecedented changes brought by technology to modern life; and
3) promoting good digital proficiency, technological awareness, digital culture, and the
integration of technology into various aspects of life.
This Area puts strong emphasis on:
i) developing digital literacy for better adaptation to the fast-changing, interconnected
global world;
