Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hu Fai-chung as President of the University, with immediate effect.
Upon his appointment, Dr Hu said, “I will continue to uphold HKSYU’s founding mission of ‘Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizons and knowledge,’ and carry forward the educational vision of our founders, Dr Chung Chi-yung and Dr Hu Hung-lick. Together with my colleagues, I am committed to advancing the sustainable development of the University.
In the face of rapid technological innovation and the challenges it brings, we must move with the times—nurturing talent capable of adapting to change—while remaining steadfast in our core value of ‘benevolence’. Through moral education, we can inspire young people to lead meaningful and purposeful lives.”
Dr Hu holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, and has been serving HKSYU since 1985. Over the years, he has made significant contributions across administration, teaching and learning development, campus expansion, and the institution’s attainment of university status.
Since 2015, Dr Hu has served as Deputy President, leading and overseeing the University’s management team in coordinating its operations and development. He was appointed Acting President in August 2025.
