The event welcomed over 600 participants, aiming to promote Chinese festive culture and enhance community-university integration.
With the increasing number of students from Chinese Mainland and overseas joining Hong Kong Shue Yan University, the university has established a new “International and Greater China Student Support Office” this academic year. The "ICH June" Intangible Cultural Heritage Summit was held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Shatin. As a co-organizing institution for this event, HKSYU senior management, including Academic Vice President Professor Selina Chan Ching, Assistant Vice President Dr Lee Ka-man, Deputy Head of the Department of History Dr Pang Suk-man, scholars, students, alumni, and representatives from media, public relations and academic circles attended the summit to discuss the "Development in protection and protection in development" of intangible cultural heritage.
HKSYU hosted the kick-off ceremony for the “Jockey Club Playful Minds Social Emotional Learning Programme”—Hong Kong’s first programme designed for Primary Three and Four students to promote social-emotional education through gamification. Over 200 representatives from the education sector and schools attended the event.
The HKSYU “Chinese Martial Arts and Sports Culture Communication” research project hosted a virtual guided tour workshop on January 23rd, which invited teachers and students from Caritas Chong Yuet Ming Secondary School and S.K.H. St. Michael's Primary School to the University’s Digital Imaging Laboratory. They learned about virtual guided tours and used AI and VR technologies to explore martial arts organizations and notable Chinese martial artists. The workshop aimed to preserve Chinese culture and promote digital humanities and interdisciplinary exchange.
On 27th September, Hong Kong Shue Yan University celebrated the renaming of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Evidence-based Practice and Research in honour of Mrs Dorothy Koo and Dr Ti Hua Koo, who donated HK$35 million to support the University’s development.

The Antiquities and Monuments Office and Hong Kong Shue Yan University co-hosted a workshop using 3D scanning technology in paleontological research, the workshop allowed the public to experience the fusion of cultural relics and technology, while also understanding the application of 3D scanning in conservation and research.
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at HKSYU recently held a thematic course focusing on students with mental illness, supporting primary teachers in dealing with Special Educational Needs (SEN) students, and promoting school health. Fruity, an adorable 6-year-old Labrador companion dog who stole hearts in the classroom, became the highlight of the session.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s Department of Journalism and Communication hosted the inaugural graduation exhibition for the "Media Design and Immersive Technology (MDIT)" programme. The theme "Reimagine" showcased students’ creative work in areas such as popular culture, eco-ecology, and healthy living. Through immersive technologies, the exhibition invited stakeholders to reimagine everyday life and the real world.
The Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Hong Kong Shue Yan University recently hosted a public talk by Professor Imre Galambos, Emeritus Professor of the University of Cambridge and Chair Professor at Zhejiang University.
The exhibition “Seeing is Creating: Textual-Visual Narratives of Hong Kong/Children’s Literature”, organized by Dr. Michelle CHAN from the Department of English and Literature at HKSYU, was held at Parallel Space in Sham Shui Po. This exhibition featured copies of magazines, books, and booklets from different eras, showcasing the rich collaboration between pictures and texts in Hong Kong children’s literature. By exploring these texts, visitors gained a strong understanding and appreciation of the creativity and significance of both narratives in storytelling.
The Industrial Attachment Office (IAO) at HKSYU debuted the event “Pathways to Success: Alumni Perspectives on Teaching Careers” in collaboration with the Departments of Chinese, English, and History, welcoming alumni from the three departments—now working as teachers—to return to campus and share their experiences. Their insights helped HKSYU students interested in the education sector better understand the Education Concentration.
Five alumni from the Master in Counselling Psychology programme—Helen Sin-hang Kwok, Isaac C.Y. Yu, Shirley Wong (2012), Louis Huang (2015), and Jasmin T. Fong (2017)—launched their new book on July 21, 2025, at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2025.
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at HKSYU commemorated the inaugural postgraduate alumni dinner with over 130 attendees. The event provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates and to engage with distinguished faculty members, including Professor Sun Tien-lun, Senior Vice President, and Professor Tang So-kum, Vice President (Graduate School). The evening culminated in a captivating performance by Dr Fu Wai, who presented four exquisite songs, leaving a lasting impression.

The USFHK Annual Prize Presentation Ceremony 2024-2025 was held in April at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The event celebrated team and individual achievements from this academic year's competitions and honored Dr. GONG Xiao-en, Director of Physical Education of HKSYU, with the "Long Service Award."
