On 13 July 2026, the “Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) Service Stars” Volunteer Team and the Department of Counselling and Psychology—working in collaboration with Social Career and the Hong Kong Saving Cat and Dog Association (HKSCDA)—organised a Kennel Cleaning Day. Around 50 volunteers, interns, and faculty members took part in the event, which sought to put the concept of “Pet Inclusivity” into practice through kennel cleaning and positive dog training.
Funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission, organised by the Hong Kong Wuyi Association, and co-organised by Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), the “3rd Art Tech Innovation Event” was held on HKSYU campus from 12 to 16 August. Rooted in local cultural traditions, the event offered workshops, competitions, exhibitions, interactive zones, and talks, inspiring young people to engage with Art Tech while strengthening their connection to and identification with local culture.

By noon, HKSYU received over 13,000 applications, submitted either in person or via its online platform — representing a 15% year-on-year increase. The latest episode of RTHK’s television programme 《夢想中華人物誌》, titled “Cultivating Virtue and Benevolence — Hu Hung-lick” (《樹德立仁—胡鴻烈》), chronicles the remarkable life and legacy of Dr Henry Hu Hung-lick, Founding President of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU). The episode explores how Dr Hu pioneered a new path for higher education in Hong Kong, expanding access to tertiary education and creating greater opportunities for generations of young people. His unwavering commitment to education has established an enduring legacy that has inspired the community for more than half a century.
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at HKSYU hosted a seminar titled “Forensic Psychology: Research & Application” on campus on 13 August. Focusing on the criminal justice system, behavioural analysis, and psychoanalysis, the event featured several distinguished psychology scholars as guest speakers. Attendees included Dr Hu Fai-chung, HKSYU President; Professor Sun Tien-lun, Senior Vice President; Mr Yip Wan-lung, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations); as well as scholars from the Department of Counselling and Psychology.
The “International Conference on Human Resilience: Navigating Life Changes & Challenges,” hosted by Hong Kong Shue Yan University, concluded its final day with a keynote address from Professor Tang So-kum, Distinguished Professor of Research in the Department of Counselling and Psychology. She synthesised findings from large-scale, interdisciplinary studies conducted by HKSYU and partner universities, examining resilience processes and mental health functioning across generations, from “Generation Alpha” (born from the early 2010s to the mid-2020s) to the Baby Boomers (born 1946-64) in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University held the “Cheung Chau Jiao Festival Mixed Reality Tour and Public Launch,” offering the public an opportunity to relive the 2025 festival through a Mixed Reality (MR) platform. This immersive experience allows participants to step into the vibrant streets of Cheung Chau and explore the intricate details and vitality of traditional culture.
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) hosted the “Inclusion and Wellness: Integrated Strategies for SEN Support” seminar and workshop. Several experts shared practical insights on how to understand and support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), aiming to enhance their mental health and promote inclusive education. Nearly 300 educators and parents attended.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University has received grants totalling nearly HK$4.9 million from the Education Bureau’s Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) to develop a one-stop cloud-based resource platform for industrial attachment (OCRPIA). This platform will consolidate internship and employment resources across academic and administrative departments, along with student portfolios, to enhance collaboration with external partners and strengthen students’ work-readiness and employability.

Experts from education, social welfare, psychology, and sports gathered to explore approaches to mental health and stress relief, while equipping front-line educators with strategies to foster an inclusive campus environment. Ms Lee San-san, former Miss Hong Kong, was invited as the keynote speaker. Drawing on her personal battle with panic disorder, she shares how she overcame life’s darkest moments.
The Department of Sociology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held a 55th Anniversary Community Service Project event on 3rd July. Partnering with the HKPC Academy under the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the department hosted a one-hour workshop titled “Preserving Memory in ‘3D’: Digital Heritage in a New Dimension” during the annual EdTech event, “Summer TechEd Fest 2026.”
The Department of English Language and Literature at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held a 55th Anniversary Community Service Project event on 3rd July. Partnering with the HKPC Academy under the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the department hosted a one-hour workshop titled “Customised AI Assistance for Smart Learning” during the annual EdTech event, “Summer TechEd Fest 2026.” The workshop drew nearly 20 parents and primary school students.
As part of the anniversary programme series, the Department of Law and Business at HKSYU, together with the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC), organised the “Mediation Workshop for Youth 2026” on 16 May 2026. Bringing together teams from six secondary schools, the workshop offered more than 20 students a practical introduction to the core concepts and skills of mediation.
Trevor Lee, an alumnus of the Department of Journalism and Communication at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), graduated in 2013 and has since built a distinguished career in the television news industry. Over the past decade, he has served as a reporter, news anchor, and host of public affairs programmes. Inspired by the selfless dedication of the University’s late founders, Dr Henry Hu Hung-lick and Dr Chung Chi-yung, Trevor has continually reminded himself to strive to become a pillar of society and to contribute to the community to the best of his ability.

Organised by the Office of Student Affairs of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) and supported by HYAB Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland, the “Guizhou Sports and Cultural Exchange Tour” took place from 24 to 28 June. As the University’s first sports-themed exchange initiative, it brought together 31 student-athletes from the men’s football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball teams, marking a new chapter in youth sports exchange between Hong Kong and Guizhou.
