HKSYU’s new Multimedia Internship Scheme Advocates students’ creativity into Teaching

Dr. CHOW Tak Sang, Assistant Academic Vice President (Teaching and Learning Development) of HKSYU, presented the Education New “Vision” Internship Scheme 
 

The new internship programme, namely the Education New “Vision” Internship Scheme, aims to integrate students’ creativity and skills into teaching through the collaboration between professors and students, promote interdisciplinary education and communication between teachers and students, and make teaching more creative and up-to-date. At the same time, the participants can also learn about different digital technologies from the programme, and have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and technologies they have learned to the creation of teaching materials, so as to grasp the latest developments in educational technology.

Dr. CHOW said that the scheme mainly hopes to invite students who are interested in multimedia creation, including videos, animations, VR and Mobile APPs, etc., students without previous experience are also acceptable. Six students are currently participating in this internship program. Through a certain degree of training, selected students will become interns of this program to develop multimedia teaching materials for the University and make teaching interesting. “In the process of learning, instead of being passive recipients of information, students are also able to personally participate in the process of educational innovation, collaborating with teaching staff from different disciplines and adding their creativity to the design of the materials.” He continued that through the internship, students will have many opportunities to learn production skills such as program creation, animation production and 360 video shooting and editing, etc. They will also have the opportunity to use hardware such as Matterport, 3D printers and 3D scanners to produce teaching materials.
