JC Festival 2022: The Original Aspiration of Media

The JC Festival is an annual event organized by the Editorial Board of the Department of Journalism and Communication of HKSYU to promote the external understanding of the Department through the exhibition of students’ works such as documentaries, photographs, and manuscripts. The theme of this year’s JC festival is “Sincere Eyes”, with sincere hearts for the public to report the news and trace the truth, through sincerity and the spirit of searching for the root cause to understand the circumstances of the incidents.

新傳系副系主任林援森博士致辭時表示，「從第一天開始學習新聞學，老師便教導我們，新聞求真，我們要以一顆真誠和赤誠的心去採訪新聞，必須有明亮瑩透的眼睛看清故事的來龍去脈。縱然面對不同挑戰，但只要報道事實和對所有持份者公平公正，才是新聞真正的擔當。」

為期兩天的傳播節，於仁大三十五周年廣場展出學生作品展覽，包括編委會主辦、以「對傳媒的初心」為主題的影視製作比賽，並邀請了梁啟業博士、蘇啟智老師、成啟聰老師擔任評審，為傳播節選出三張學生拍攝的傑出照片。傳播節獎項由編委會提供，得獎同學分別是林哲毅同學、李海暉同學、張寶怡同學。

HKSYU Hong Kong Cantopop Lyrics Lecture by Prof. CHEUNG Siu-Keung

The "Hong Kong Cantopop Lyrics " lecture, co-organized by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and the Loke Kok Kuen Chinese Culture Legacy Research Trust, was successfully held earlier.

Academic Vice President Professor CHAN Ching Selina was Appointed as a Member of AAB

The Government recently announced the membership of the Antiquities Advisory Board in its new term, Professor CHAN Ching Selina, Academic Vice President of HKSYU was appointed as a new member for a two-year term. Prof. CHAN Ching is a professor in the Department of Sociology, her research interests focus on cultural heritage and collective memories, food and identities, religion and intangible cultural heritage, as well as kinship, lineage and colonialism. She is also a member of the Sub-committee on ICH Items under the Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust.

The Department of Journalism and Communication Obtains More than HK$1.5 million Funding to Promote Knowledge Transfer

Two research projects “Ving Tsun – Martial Arts in Artificial Intelligence” and “Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage and IPMAN Ving Tsun”, both led by Dr. Lee Ka Man, Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication, were separately granted funding of HK$1.18 million from the Innovation and Technology Fund and HK$0.4 million from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. The two projects have been conducted activities in July 2022, through the use of digital media and artificial intelligence technology, and the use of picture books to analyze the relationship between intangible cultural heritage and Chinese culture for primary and secondary school students progressively, thus promoting knowledge transfer.
