Dr Philip Lee, HKSYU Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance and Associate Director of the Teaching and Learning Development Office, recently participated in two events to share his views on the recent FinTech development in Hong Kong.

On December 12th, Dr Lee, along with Mr Bosco Tsin, Lecturer at the same department, took part in the Symposium of FinTech & Insurance. The event was co-organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute Hong Kong (CIIHK) and the Department of Economics and Finance. During the event, Dr Lee led a session titled “Future Prospect of InsurTech”, in which he shared his insights on emerging trends and the growing demand for talent in the FinTech and insurance sectors in Hong Kong.

Two days later, Dr Lee flew to Bangkok to participate in the annual event “Workshop on e-Business (WeB)”of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). He presented a FinTech research project titled “The Impacts of Social Media Influencers on Followers’ Responses to Crisis across the Five Stages of Grief: A Case Study of the JPEX Scandal in Hong Kong” to international researchers. This project is a collaborative effort between Dr Lee and his BCom (Hons.) in FinTech student, Mr Brian Chung. Brian learnt a lot through his participation in the project and won our school’s Outstanding Interdisciplinary Research Proposal Award.
