Hong Kong Shue Yan University held the “Cheung Chau Jiao Festival Mixed Reality Tour and Public Launch,” offering the public an opportunity to relive the 2025 festival through a Mixed Reality (MR) platform. This immersive experience allows participants to step into the vibrant streets of Cheung Chau and explore the intricate details and vitality of traditional culture.
The event forms part of the project “Metaversing Intangible Cultural Heritage: Documenting, Transmitting and Promoting the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival in Hong Kong.” Led by Professor Selina Chan Ching, Academic Vice President; Professor Lau Kung-wong, Head of the Department of Applied Data Science; and Assistant Professors Dr Ke Pingchuan and Dr Cai Shengdan from the Department of Sociology, the initiative is supported by Government Funding Schemes. It aims to research and preserve Chinese culture through digital technology.
