HKSYU Celebrates HKSAR Establishment Day with Flag-Raising Ceremony

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held a flag-raising ceremony on campus to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Danny Wong Shek-nam, Chairman of University Council; Mr Lung Chee-ming, Member of Board of Governors; Professor Chiu Chi-yue, Member of University Council; Dr Hu Fai-chung, President; and Professor Catherine Sun Tien-lun, Senior Vice President; together with members of the senior management team.

Community Service Project: Mediation Workshop for Building Dialogue and Resolving Conflict

As part of the anniversary programme series, the Department of Law and Business at HKSYU, together with the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC), organised the “Mediation Workshop for Youth 2026” on 16 May 2026. Bringing together teams from six secondary schools, the workshop offered more than 20 students a practical introduction to the core concepts and skills of mediation.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University Enters QS World University Rankings for the First Time

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has entered the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for the first time, placing in the 1001–1200 band in the latest 2027 edition. Since 2020, the University has been submitting data to QS, and this milestone—coinciding with its 55th anniversary—marks HKSYU as the first private university in Hong Kong to be included. The University has pledged to continue advancing academic research and international development.

The QS World University Rankings assess over 8,800 institutions worldwide. HKSYU noted that it performed particularly well in the indicators of “Global Engagement”, “Academic Reputation” and “Employer Reputation”, reflecting that the performance of its faculty, students, and graduates is widely recognised by various sectors.

Community Service Project: Exploring Hong Kong’s Fisherman’s Wharf

To mark its 55th anniversary, Hong Kong Shue Yan University has launched the “Community Service Project Series”, designed to apply academic research for the benefit of local communities.
