The latest episode of RTHK’s television programme 《夢想中華人物誌》, titled “Cultivating Virtue and Benevolence — Hu Hung-lick” (「樹德立仁—胡鴻烈」), chronicles the remarkable life and legacy of Dr Henry Hu Hung-lick, Founding President of Hong Kong Shue Yan University. The episode explores how Dr Hu pioneered a new path for higher education in Hong Kong, expanding access to quality education and establishing an enduring educational legacy that has inspired generations for more than half a century. The programme also features interviews with distinguished guests, who share their personal reflections on President Hu and the enduring Shue Yan spirit.

Community Service Project: Mediation Workshop for Building Dialogue and Resolving Conflict

As part of the anniversary programme series, the Department of Law and Business at HKSYU, together with the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC), organised the “Mediation Workshop for Youth 2026” on 16 May 2026. Bringing together teams from six secondary schools, the workshop offered more than 20 students a practical introduction to the core concepts and skills of mediation.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University Enters QS World University Rankings for the First Time

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has entered the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for the first time, placing in the 1001–1200 band in the latest 2027 edition. Since 2020, the University has been submitting data to QS, and this milestone—coinciding with its 55th anniversary—marks HKSYU as the first private university in Hong Kong to be included. The University has pledged to continue advancing academic research and international development.

The QS World University Rankings assess over 8,800 institutions worldwide. HKSYU noted that it performed particularly well in the indicators of “Global Engagement”, “Academic Reputation” and “Employer Reputation”, reflecting that the performance of its faculty, students, and graduates is widely recognised by various sectors.
