Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held the Academic Staff Forum 2026 for the 2026/27 academic year, where management shared encouraging news regarding the university's development. Professor Catherine SUN Tien-lun, Senior Vice President, stated that the application and admission numbers for the new academic year were ideal, with 2,046 new students enrolled in undergraduate programmes—a 10% increase compared to last year. Together with 410 new postgraduate students and 24 students admitted to the one-year International Foundation Year Programme (IFYP), the total number of new students reached 2,480.
Professor SUN also announced the official establishment of the Faculty of Communication, Information and Creative Industries for the new academic year. The faculty comprises two departments: the Department of Data Science and Digital Innovation (formerly named the Department of Applied Data Science) and the Department of Journalism and Communication.
Professor Selina CHAN Ching, Academic Vice President, introduced HKSYU's 2026–2030 five-year plan, "ADORN," which aims at “Enhancing Global Competence through a Digitally Enabled Liberal Arts Education in the Digital Era.”
Dr Jason Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration), discussed campus development, administrative structure, and artificial intelligence (AI) strategies. Key highlights include the creation of the Office of ESG and Sustainable Development and the successful launch of CareerHub, a one-stop internship platform designed to help students prepare for their future careers after graduation.
