The 48th Graduation Ceremony of Hong Kong Shue Yan University was held on the 1st, 2nd and 5th of December at the Lady Lily Shaw Hall in campus. A total of 1084 graduates were awarded degrees from the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Dr. CHAN Tak-lam Norman Received Honorary Degree in the 48th Graduation Ceremony
An honorary degree was conferred on the former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) Dr. CHAN Tak-lam Norman in the 48th graduation ceremony at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HK SYU).
“Mentorship Programme” Reaches a New Milestone Strengthen Mentoring Relationship
About 100 alumni (seniors), guests and students attended the event, the present guests included Prof. HU Yao Su, Provost of HKSYU, Dr. HU Fai Chung, Deputy President of HKSYU, Prof. CHEUNG Siu-Keung, Vice President (University Administration), Dr. LI Wang On, Associate Academic Vice President (University Research) and Ms. YIP Sau Yin, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs), department heads and teachers were also present to witness the 20th anniversary of the “Mentorship Programme”.
HKSYU Sports Teams Pledging Ceremony
The P.E. Section held the “Sports Teams Pledging Ceremony” on 21 October 2022. In addition to the members of the 16 school teams, the attendants include Dr. HU Fai Chung, Deputy President, Prof. CHEUNG Siu-Keung, Vice President (University Administration), Dr. WONG Kwan Leung, Associate Academic Vice President (Teaching & Learning Development), Ms. YIP Sau Yin, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs), Dr. GONG Xiao En, the Director of Physical Education, the coaches who received the Long Service Awards and the three outstanding athletes of the previous year. All staff, students and the University Senior Management Team attended the ceremony in the school team windbreaker jackets, the ceremony began with a short video introducing the 16 school teams.

Shue Yan obtains more than HK$15 million research funding from Research Grants Council
Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has been successful in obtaining HK$15 million in funding for 8 research projects under the Research Grants Council (RGC)’s 2022/2023 Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector.

BA Department Academic Week 2022: Industry 5.0
The Department of Business Administration (BA Department), Faculty of Commerce of the HKSYU, organizes Academic Week (A-Week) in October every year to connect the practitioners and professionals in various business fields with students and teachers alike to understand more about the changing trends and practices of the business world in reality. On October 17-20, 2022, the BA Department successfully held the Academic Week 2022, on the theme of “Indus try 5.0.”

The Department of History Adds the Education Concentration Courses
The Department of History adds the Education Concentration courses, in an interview with Shue Yan Newsletter, Dr. AU Chi-Kin, Assistant Professor of the Department of History and Associate Director of the History Teaching Support & Research Centre, shared that the University has been studying the creation of the courses for some time, in the face of the departure tide of teachers in Hong Kong in recent years, Dr. AU considered it necessary to teach students explicitly about the knowledge related to education work
