Programmes Tailored for Everyone
Established by Dr. Henry H.L. Hu and Dr. Chung Chi Yung in 1971, Shue Yan College was formally registered as a tertiary education institution in 1976. On 19 December 2006, Shue Yan College became the first private university in Hong Kong after it was renamed Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) by order of the Chief Executive in Council.
For close to half a century, HKSYU has abided by its motto, “Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizon and knowledge” (敦仁博物), and pursued education that promotes benevolence. HKSYU currently offers 15 undergraduate and 21 postgraduate programmes with a vision to cultivate future leaders for society and a commitment to top-quality research activities. Of its postgraduate programmes, the University started to offer 6 Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and 6 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in September 2018 to further strengthen its edge in teaching and research.
