Dr Hu Fai-chung, President of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), and Dr Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration), recently met with faculty and student representatives from the Departments of Chinese Language and Literature, Counselling and Psychology, Business Administration, and Sociology. The dialogue focused on the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the university’s internationalization, and ways to strengthen students’ sense of belonging to the university.
To mark its 55th anniversary, Hong Kong Shue Yan University has launched the “Community Service Project Series”, designed to apply academic research for the benefit of local communities. The Department of Journalism and Communication organised a virtual reality (VR) game activity at The Methodist Church HK Wesley College, engaging teachers and students in meaningful discussions on “empathy, ethics, and social responsibility in digital storytelling.”

In support of National Security Education Day 2026, Hong Kong Shue Yan University organised a thematic sharing session titled “National Security Education Day 2026 – Safeguarding Cultural Security through Research”.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University held the “Cheung Chau Jiao Festival Mixed Reality Tour and Public Launch,” offering the public an opportunity to relive the 2025 festival through a Mixed Reality (MR) platform. This immersive experience allows participants to step into the vibrant streets of Cheung Chau and explore the intricate details and vitality of traditional culture.
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) hosted the “Inclusion and Wellness: Integrated Strategies for SEN Support” seminar and workshop. Several experts shared practical insights on how to understand and support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), aiming to enhance their mental health and promote inclusive education. Nearly 300 educators and parents attended.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University has received grants totalling nearly HK$4.9 million from the Education Bureau’s Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) to develop a one-stop cloud-based resource platform for industrial attachment (OCRPIA). This platform will consolidate internship and employment resources across academic and administrative departments, along with student portfolios, to enhance collaboration with external partners and strengthen students’ work-readiness and employability.
Four faculty members from Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) presented their research at a Workshop and Poster Session on the Competitive Research Funding Schemes (CRFS) for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector organised by the Research Grants Council (RGC) on 24 November 2025.

The Industrial Attachment Office (IAO) of Hong Kong Shue Yan University hosted the Internship Partners Get-Together, bringing together faculty members and students from the Department of Counselling and Psychology and the Department of Social Work, alongside representatives from various internship organisations. To enrich students’ campus life and foster interaction across departments, the “1st Esports Tournament — VALORANT”, co-organised by the Department of Applied Data Science and the Applied Data Science Society, was successfully held at the Game Development Laboratory.
FishGuard, the student entrepreneurship team nominated by Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) for the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP), has successfully gained admission. Last summer, three team members headed to Draper University in Silicon Valley, United States, for a Boot Camp. On 6 September 2025, the student team from the Department of Law and Business—comprising Dhillon Fatehkaran Singh, LIN Ruoqi, and WONG Nga-yin—earned notable recognition by securing second runner-up in paper writing and first runner-up in paper presentation at the Corporate Governance Paper Competition and Presentation Awards 2025, organised by the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).
Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held its Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony, with Mr Chris Sun Yuk-han, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, serving as Guest of Honour. Senior management and donor representatives were also in attendance. This year, a total of 320 students received scholarships and bursaries, including 274 scholarships, 76 service scholarships, and 30 bursaries, amounting to HK$3.24 million.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University hosted its 36th Athletic Meet at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, with 189 participants including students, exchange students, staff, and alumni.
Established in the 2022/23 academic year, Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s Flag-raising Team is responsible for conducting flag-raising ceremonies on important campus occasions. To strengthen member training, the University invited three personnel from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison to visit the campus on 15 March 2026, delivering training in flag raising techniques and Chinese-style foot drill. Dr Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration), and Ms Yip Sau-yin, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs), attended the session and interacted with the visiting personnel.
HKSYU held the inauguration ceremony for the fifth cohort of the Student Ambassador Programme. The event was co-hosted by President Dr Hu Fai-chung; Dr Jason Chow, Vice President (University Administration); Ms Sophia Yip, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs); Mr Calvin Lam, alumnus of the Department of Journalism and Communication and mentor of the Student Ambassadors; together with Student Ambassadors from the fourth and fifth cohorts.
