HKSYU and Antiquities Office Host 3D Dinosaur Fossil Workshop

The Antiquities and Monuments Office and Hong Kong Shue Yan University co-hosted a workshop using 3D scanning technology in paleontological research, the workshop allowed the public to experience the fusion of cultural relics and technology, while also understanding the application of 3D scanning in conservation and research.

Assistant Professors Ke Pingchuan and Cai Shengdan from the Department of Sociology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University introduced the use of digital technology in paleontology and cultural heritage preservation. The Antiquities and Monuments Office arranged for participants to scan dinosaur fossils excavated at Port Island under expert guidance, providing a great opportunity to learn about new technologies and view fossils up close.
