HKSYU's Department of Counselling and Psychology Collaborates with Wuhan University to Establish Three Internship Sites for Clinical Practice and Research

In order to strengthen educational cooperation and exchanges between mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as to meet the learning needs of students, Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has signed agreements with Wuhan University's Second Clinical Medical College, School of Nursing, and Wuhan Qicai Xinghua Education Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly establish three internship sites since the end of September 2023. These sites, named the "Clinical Practice & Research Site of Hong Kong Shue Yan University," the "Practice & Research Site of Hong Kong Shue Yan University," and the "Play Therapy & Research Site of Hong Kong Shue Yan University," will provide students with professional clinical practice and academic research opportunities.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University Receives Funding from Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to Promote Emotional Learning for Primary School Students

Hong Kong Shue Yan University has received funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to launch a project focused on enhancing social and emotional learning for primary school students. The project titled "Emotion World: Enhancing Middle Primary School Students’ Emotional Competence Via a Holistic, Integrative, Gamified Platform," aims to address the need for emotional competence development among primary school students through a combination of online and offline counseling, capacity-building workshops, and digital games that support deep learning of emotional skills. This project is expected to benefit 5,000 primary school students, along with their parents and teachers

Dr TH Koo and Mrs Dorothy Koo donated 30 millions for the University plaza renovation

Hong Kong Shue Yan University's 35th Anniversary Plaza has been renamed to Mrs Dorothy Koo and Dr Ti Hua Koo Plaza. Prof. Catherine Sun, Senior Vice President expressed gratitude on behalf of the University to the donors Dr Ti Hua Koo and Mrs Dorothy Koo, for their generous donation of 30 million dollars to refurbish the plaza. The plaza is equipped with advanced audio-visual equipment and provides a wider space for students to engage in digital art and cultural activities, such as concerts, drama performances, plays, and even virtual reality games.

Three Departments under the Faculty of Social Science Celebrate the Relocation of New Offices

The Department of Counseling and Psychology, the Department of Sociology, and the Department of Social Work under the Faculty of Social Science held a celebration for the completion and relocation of new offices on the 7th and 8th floors of the Shue Yan University Library Complex on January 17. The University hopes to transform the 7th to 9th floors into staff offices through renovation and reorganization of the library, this new working environment can bring the staff together and inspire them in academic research. For example, the current 8th floor of the library mainly gathers staff from the three departments of Social Work, Counseling and Psychology, and Sociology, promoting communication and exchange among the departments, which is believed to be helpful in inspiring and stimulating teaching ideas.

HKSYU Library Newly Set Up a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Corner

The newly set up Special Educational Needs (SEN) Corner at HKSYU Library is being operationalized to provide students with special learning needs the opportunity to experience the pleasure of reading books and studying texts. The SEN Corner was set up with the donation of Professor CHEUNG, Siu-keung, Vice President (University Administration) of HKSYU. He expressed that the university’s education is founded on Confucian values, and he also agrees with the idea of “great harmony and fairly well-off” that all sectors of society should pursue the ideal state of mutual care and assistance, and be willing to contribute to society mentioned in the Book of Rites, one of the Confucian classics.
