Hong Kong Shue Yan University Enters QS World University Rankings for the First Time
Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has entered the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for the first time, placing in the 1001–1200 band in the latest 2027 edition. Since 2020, the University has been submitting data to QS, and this milestone—coinciding with its 55th anniversary—marks HKSYU as the first private university in Hong Kong to be included. The University has pledged to continue advancing academic research and international development. The QS World University Rankings assess over 8,800 institutions worldwide. HKSYU noted that it performed particularly well in the indicators of “Global Engagement”, “Academic Reputation” and “Employer Reputation”, reflecting that the performance of its faculty, students, and graduates is widely recognised by various sectors.
HKSYU Showcases Innovation in Intangible Cultural Heritage Seminar
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), in collaboration with cultural promotion organisation “ICH June”, hosted the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Seminar” at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) participated as a collaborating institution, with scholars including Professor Chan Ching, Academic Vice President; Dr Lee Ka-man, Assistant Vice President; alumni; and students, joined by guests from the political and academic sectors.
Public Lecture Series: Understanding the Psychology Behind Online Scams
As part of the anniversary programme series, the Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University hosted a public lecture on 15 May 2026 titled “Understanding the Psychology Behind Online Scams .” Dr Lam Yin-Hung, Associate Head (Postgraduate Studies) of the Department, drew on psychological insights to explain how scammers exploit human vulnerabilities and emotional responses. She traced the psychological journey of victims and unpacked the behavioural patterns and manipulation techniques commonly used by fraudsters.
