
HKSYU's "Three Yu Lan Festivals" Project Promoted at Beijing ICH Week
Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has made significant strides in preserving and innovatively transmitting intangible cultural heritage (ICH). The project, “Three Yu Lan Festivals: Research, Transmission and Promotion,” led by Academic Vice President Professor Selina Chan Ching, was recently invited by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Beijing Municipal People's Government to participate in the 2025 Beijing International Week of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Alumni Highlights: Charles and Ginson Return to Inspire
Charles Choi and Ginson Leung, graduates of Shue Yan's Business Administration Department in the 1990s, have lived in Canada for many years. Recently, they returned to their alma mater to revisit the scenery and vitality of the Braemar Hill campus.

HKSYU Academics Develop Mobile App to Help Muslim Students Find Halal Food
Hong Kong Shue Yan University has welcomed a growing number of non-Chinese speaking students from diverse religious backgrounds, including Muslim students, in recent years. When Dr Philip LEE Tin-yun, Associate Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, learned that Muslim students were finding it difficult to access halal food in Hong Kong, he partnered with Mr Bosco TSIN Hingyan, Lecturer in the same department, to develop Islamic Compass HK. The mobile application helps users locate halal restaurants, prayer rooms, and hotels across the city, supporting Muslim students as they adapt to local life.

Focus on Character: HKSYU Summarises Summer Activities and Educational Philosophy
Hong Kong Shue Yan University held the 2025 "Future Star" and "Fan Changjiang Action" summer activity summary sharing session at the Mrs. Dorothy KOO and Dr. Ti Hua KOO Plaza. The event was hosted by the Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, and was attended by group Vice Chairman and General Manager ZHENG Yong-nan, representatives from the Hong Kong SAR Government, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from Hong Kong, as well as educators and business representatives.

Celebrating Tradition and Community: HKSYU’s Mid-Autumn Festival Community Celebration
Sponsored by the Eastern District Office and organized by the Chinese Cultural Heritage Research Centre, Hong Kong Shue Yan University hosted a Mid-Autumn Festival Community Celebration on campus. The event welcomed over 600 participants, aiming to promote Chinese festive culture and enhance community-university integration.

New Support Office for International and Mainland Students
With the increasing number of students from Chinese Mainland and overseas joining Hong Kong Shue Yan University, the university has established a new “International and Greater China Student Support Office” this academic year. This dedicated office aims to strengthen resource coordination and integrate services, offering more comprehensive support for non-local students in areas such as adapting to daily life, preparing for internships, and planning their career paths.
