We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr Hu Hung-lick, founding president of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), who passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 105.

The Board of Governors of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has approved the appointment of Dr Hu Fai-chung, Deputy President, as Acting President of the University, effective immediately.

In Loving Memory of Dr Henry Hu Hung-lick
Dr Henry Hu Hung-lick, the President of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, passed away peacefully on 27 July 2025 with his family by his side. Dr Hu will be sadly missed by all staff, students and alumni of the University.

HKSYU Records 12% Increase in Applications Following DSE Results
Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) announces that, following the release of this year’s HKDSE results, the university will conclude its first-round application on Monday, 21 July. As of midday, the university has received in excess of 10,000 eligible applications, submitted via both in-person and online platform, representing a 12% increase compared to the previous year.

Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games - Flag Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegation
The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will be held from July 16 to 27 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, with 75 athletes representing Hong Kong in the competition. Dr Hu Fai-chung, HKSYU Deputy President and President of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited (USFHK), encouraged all athletes to give their best in the competitions while also embracing the opportunity to enjoy the experience, forge new friendships, and represent Hong Kong with pride. On July 8, the USFHK held a flag presentation ceremony. Dr Jason Chow Tak-sang, HKSYU Vice President (University Administration), attended the ceremony on behalf of the USFHK President.

The 4th Hong Kong Youth Chinese Culture and Tourism Knowledge Competition
The 4th Hong Kong Youth Chinese Culture and Tourism Knowledge Competition took place from July 4 to 5 at the Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Co-organized by HKSYU and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, the event, officiated by esteemed guests including Ms Choi Yuk-lin, Hong Kong's Secretary for Education, Mr Cheng Yong-nam, Vice Chairman and General Manager of the Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group and Dr Jason Chow Tak-sang, HKSYU Vice President (University Administration). Dr Lee Ka-man, HKSYU Assistant Vice President and Dr Au Chi-kin, Associate Professor of Department of History, HKSYU served as judges of the competition. This event was organized by the Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group to engage over 8,500 students from more than 230 schools across the city, promoting Chinese culture and tourism knowledge in a fun and interactive way.
